Dr. Lara Burqan on the judging committee of the Hultprize at the Yarmouk University

Dr. Lara Barqan, the founder and CEO of the Nobles for Sustainable Development, participated in the Hultprize Yarmouk Award finals judging committee last Monday, March 6th. Joining her as fellow judges are Dr. Mohannad Ouda, Mr. Murad Al-Shakah from the Jordan River Foundation, and Dr. Reham Al-Zaghir. It’s worth noting that the Hult Prize Foundation is a strategic partner of the Crown Prince Foundation in Jordan, working to enhance youth participation and entrepreneurship in the community sector and motivating them to start their global entrepreneurial projects by achieving the UN’s sustainable development goals.

Their goal is to train young people to think creatively and innovatively, in addition to the important role played by the Crown Prince Foundation in activating youth participation and empowerment in Jordan through programs and initiatives that are built on participation, leadership, and competitiveness on all levels.

This year’s challenge was to recycle clothes and come up with feasible project ideas, and the participating teams presented ten youth projects with innovative entrepreneurial ideas. Our youth need guidance, support, and nurturing to provide what is useful for their society and country. The “My Shirt” project won, which recycles clothes by hand-sewing them into designs that keep up with the latest trends, are environmentally friendly, and are offered at affordable prices to consumers. Many thanks to Dr. Mohammad Dhiabat, the Dean of Student Affairs at Yarmouk University, and his colleague, pharmacist Raham Graybeh, the director of the campus, for their good organization and coordination, and to Yarmouk University for hosting the event
